What do we want to cherish?

This is what the sustainability transformation is all about in the end. The Finnish Environment Institute turns 30 this year. In the anniversary year, we wish to remind people of the necessity of the transformation and all that has been done and is being done for the environment.

Cherish the good!

Rather than giving up, a sustainable lifestyle is about cherishing the things that are valuable to all of us. We can preserve clean waters, a favourable climate, and a vibrant nature for the future only if we achieve a sustainability transformation, that is, a rapid shift in our society towards operating within the limits of nature's carrying capacity.

For 30 years now, Syke has supported the evaluation and selection of goals and means for sustainable development, as our statutory task requires. I welcome you to Syke's newsletter, established in honour of our anniversary year. In this and future issues, we will tell you about Syke's diverse work for a sustainable and safe Finland. Let's cherish the good together!
